Selection Criteria for the 2022 ICG
Only children born
between 2007/ 2008/ 2009 inclusive (13 to 15 year’s olds) will be eligible to participate and MUST LIVE
within the Coventry City Boundaries (i.e. parents pay council tax to Coventry City Council). The issue of
where the swimmers live is a specific point in the Team Selection conditions of the competition by the City
Council and must be adhered to.
The Team will consist of
four boys and four girls, plus two swimming coaches, one male and one female. Full information on the Games
will be released in due course.
For the selection this
year we have to have the final list of swimmers, details, entries and digital photos & passport copies
back to the council by January 25th 2022 at the very latest. Due to this the selection criteria for the 2022
team, Swimmers will be considered for selection from their performance in competition between September 1st
2021 and December 12th 2021. Performances at these Competitions will then be ranked and rated against FINA
international points. Highest ranked swimmers in each event will then be selected until the allocated team
size is reached. Some selections may be made to balance the team in terms of the Relays. A maximum of two
swimmers per event can be selected.
The number of events
that a swimmer can swim is 4 individual events plus two relays. The events available are still to be confirmed
but in previous years they have been 50, 100, 200, 400m Free, 50, 100, 200m Backstroke, Breaststroke &
Butterfly, 200m IM plus 4x100m Free & Medley Relays and Mixed Free/Medley Relay (2 boys/2
girls).
