Development Galas

What is a Development Gala?

Development Galas are used as part of the criteria for swimmers moving between certain squads within the club.

Who can enter a Development Gala ?

All Achiever squads plus Junior Performance 2. However Reception Achievers only enter at Anita's discretion. Entry to the gala is free.

When and Where

2013 Dates: January 5th, March 23rd and July 13th. All Development Galas are held the University of Warwick Sports Centre.

Events to be entered

If you need help in deciding which events you should enter please consult your coach for advice. Please note: to make best use of the time available events will be based on entry times and not separated into age groups. Please enter where possible accurate times (preferably from the last development gala) to help with the seeding of the events.

Other Squads

200m freestyle AND 100IM AND either 50m breaststroke OR backstroke OR butterfly

How do swimmers enter?

A note will be put on the web's noticeboard 4-6 weeks before the event when online entry is available. Complete the online form. A few days after the closing date a provisional programme will be produced which should be checked for accuracy. Once the final programme has been produced no further changes can be made.

What do I do if a swimmer can not make it on the day due to illness etc?

No problem.

Can Parents watch the Development Galas?

Due to Health & Safety restrictions by the University of Warwick, there is a limit on the numbers allowed on the balcony (80 people). Entry to the balcony is first come first served and there is a charge of £2.00 per ticket.

What do I need to bring on the day & what is expected of the swimmers?

All swimmers are advised, as a minimum, to bring with them a T-shirt and dark shorts/tracksuit bottoms, something to wear on their feet (flip flops/trainers), 2 towels (one for poolside and a spare for afterwards to get dry!), a “C” hat if a hat is worn & two pairs of goggles (in case one pair break). It is also advisable to have plenty of fluids to drink as performances can drop if swimmers get dehydrated.
