Dear Swimmers/Parents/Guardians
I am writing to you today to let you know that as of Monday 8th March Caludon Castle have asked us to put back our
training times by 15 minutes on each of the four days.
The background to this is that they asked us before Christmas if we would be willing to do this at the same time that
they informed us that they would also be putting up the charges for hiring the pool. After some negotiation we have
agreed that we would be willing to change the times by 15 minutes but for them to charge us at our current rate of hire
with no increase for a 12 month period. This has now been agreed by both sides and hence the change to take place from
8th March.
Therefore, as of 8th March the following now are the Training times at Caludon Castle:
Monday: Reception Achievers: 6.30-7.45pm
Junior Performance 1: 6.30-8.00pm
Junior Performance 2: 7.45-8.45pm
Tuesday: High Achievers 1: 6.30-8.00pm
Junior Performance 1: 6.30-8.15pm
Wednesday: High Achievers 2: 6.30-8.15pm
Junior Performance 2: 6.30-8.15pm
Thursday: Junior Performance 1: 6.30-8.15pm
Junior Performance 2: 6.30-8.15pm
Land work for above: 6.00-6.30pm
I hope you will appreciate the reasons for us agreeing to this as an increase over the next 12 months would have cost
approx £1800 which may have meant a further increase in the fees.
Please contact me on the above if there are any queries.
Regards
Jo Deakins
Director of Coaching

Any questions please contact me Sprint Night Volunteers by Jo Deakins on 9/2/2010 @ 15:06
I have received the following message from Paul Croom-carter and felt it needed going onto the newsboard.
Please could you express my thanks to all those who helped out at sprint night on Friday.
We had a full compliment of helpers at the beginning which made sprint night start on time and run smoothly. It is
encouraging to see so many people willing to help.
This is the first time since I took over that we have not struggled to occupy all available lanes.
It was much appreciated and I would like to encourage everyone to help as frequently as possible so sprint night can
always run smoothly.
thanks
Paul
I would also like to add my thanks to all who helped out last Friday. The Sprint night, and other activities we do
within the Training Scheme, are all important parts and help with the development of our swimmers to reach their full
potential.
Again, thanks to all involved and if you would like to offer your services in any way then please feel free to do so. West Midlands Time Trials 800m by Julia Betteley on 7/2/2010 @ 19:15

Membership Fees and updates by Simon Sinclair on 2/2/2010 @ 17:31
Could all members be reminded that their Annual Membership Renewal fees were due by 31st January 2010.
Delay in payment can result in you not being allowed to enter the Warwickshire Championships (or other meets) as your
membership will not have been renewed by the ASA in time.
If you are not renewing your membership, please be kind enough to email allison.stoney@coventry-swimming.co.uk and
inform us of this so that you are not sent repeat requests for payment, otherwise it will be assumed that you are still
a member, and if you are in the Training Scheme (Reception Achievers upwards) you will be invoiced by the Billing
Secretary for your monthly training fees until we are informed otherwise.
If you have changed your name and/or your email address, and/or your home address, and/or your telephone number we need
to be informed of this too, so that we can make the changes on the database.
Many thanks for your cooperation.

Leighton Buzzard LU7 2AF New Barriers at Coventry Sports Centre by Jo Deakins on 11/11/2009 @ 19:26
Over the last two days new barriers have been installed in the Reception Area at Coventry Sports Centre. The purpose of
these is allow genuine customers into the building. However, this has a knock on effect to how our members enter for
sessions etc.
I have been told by the management of the Centre this afternoon that for our members to enter through the barriers we
will have to gain a token from Reception on production of a valid COCSC Membership card. If you do not have one, or have
lost it then please see the Club Night desk for a new one. The token will then open the barriers and you can through.
Parents, I am hoping that you will also be given a token free of charge but as this moment in time I have still to have
this confirmed.
For swimmers attending mornings how we access through when there are no receptionists on duty has still to be decided
but if you turn up as normal on Friday am unless otherwise told I will find a way of you getting in!
I would advise that you allow more time prior to sessions in the initial period as there is likely to be tething
problems to overcome.
In the long term the idea is that all members will be issued swipe cards to allow direct access through the barriers
but these are not available at this time.
We are working with the Trust to try and find a quick and easy solution to the problem so please bear with us whilst we
sort things out. Land training Cancelled Sunday 15th November by Jo Deakins on 11/11/2009 @ 12:42

On Sunday 8th November the Fire Brigade will be using the basement to do a training exercise. This will not have any

It is anticipated that the exercise will be over by the time our sessions finish but if not and you see fire engines
outside the building you now that it is just a practice and nothing to be alarmed about.

Therefore, there will be no Saturday lessons on Saturday 5th September.
We apologise for this but it is out of our control. Lyng Hall Closure by Jo Deakins on 1/9/2009 @ 12:53

I have recieved an email today from a researcher from the Gadget show on Channel 5. Details below:
I am emailing you from the UK TV programme ‘The Gadget Show’ (Monday, Ch5, Series 10, 8pm) produced by North One TV.
‘The Gadget Show’ is the UK’s leading technology programme and we regularly attract 1.5 millions viewers. The programme
features, examines and test the latest gadgets and advances in technology.
We are currently looking for a group of 12-16 swimmers (aged 18-40) willing to test three of the latest swimming
gadgets alongside our presenters, Suzi Perry, Jason Bradbury and Jon Bentley.
Filming will be on the 8th July between 12.00-4.00pm at Edgbaston Priory (Birmingham) – I do apologise for the lack of
notice. All we would require from the swimmers is to have a play with three of the latest swimming gadgets - we would
then film them giving their opinion of the products. The three gadgets consist of a Swimming mask with integrated
camera/camcorder capabilities, a completely waterproof ipod shuffle and an underwater Pogo Stick. Unfortunately, we will
be unable to provide payment or travel expenses but we will give all participants lunch (we will need to need if anyone
has any special dietary requirements) – it should be a really fun and exciting shoot.
If you are interested can I ask that you contact the researcher direct; Charlotte Clappison

Help With Summer Activities (Baginton Fields) by Jo Deakins on 9/6/2008 @ 11:18
I have received an email over the weekend from Denise Flude (early support coordinator) from Coventry City Council who

Part of that schedule is swimming and canoeing. Denise is asking if any of our members would be interested in coming
along to help in the pool at those sessions? There will only be 12 in the pool at any one time, including parents, but
extra pairs of hands belonging to competant swimmers would help them to help the children.
If you are interested in helping out send myself an email; joanne.deakins@coventry-swimming.org.uk and I can forward
